So, what is cayennepeper?

Cayenne pepper is a fiery and pungent spice that adds a distinctive heat to a wide range of dishes. This spice is made from dried and ground cayenne peppers, which are small, red, and extremely spicy chili peppers. Its heat is measured in Scoville Heat Units (SHUs), and cayenne pepper typically registers between 30,000 and 50,000 SHUs. In addition to its heat, cayenne pepper has a slightly sweet and earthy flavor that can enhance the taste of soups, stews, sauces, and marinades. It's also used in traditional medicine to treat various health conditions, thanks to its high content of capsaicin, a compound with anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like cayennepeper?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
