So, what is duodenum?

Duodenum is a part of the small intestine that plays a crucial role in the digestion process. It is located between the stomach and the jejunum and is the first section of the small intestine. The duodenum receives partially digested food from the stomach and mixes it with bile and pancreatic enzymes to break down fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. The lining of the duodenum contains numerous folds, villi, and microvilli to increase the surface area for nutrient absorption. While not commonly used as a food ingredient, some cultures consider duodenum as a delicacy and include it in traditional dishes.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like duodenum?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
