So, what is sablefish?

Sablefish, also known as black cod, is a rich and delicate deep-sea fish with a velvety texture and buttery flavor. Its high oil content makes it an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, which have been linked to numerous health benefits, including reduced inflammation and improved heart health. Sablefish has firm white flesh that holds up well when cooked, making it a versatile ingredient for a variety of culinary techniques. It's often found in high-end restaurants, but can be enjoyed at home by pan-searing or grilling fillets and serving them with simple accompaniments like lemon and herbs.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like sablefish?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
